미국 시간 기준으로 2005년 10월 17일 오전 6시, 미국의 부채는 모두 8조3억8870만5467.70달러다. 우리 돈으로 하면 8천조원이 넘는다. 미국 인구는 2억9745만명, 한 사람 앞에 2만6896.31달러꼴이다. 미국의 빚은 지난해 9월 30일 이래 날마다 16억3천만달러씩 늘어나고 있다.
